It is quite a flat course created in 1970, with wooded narrow greens, making play technically demanding.

Recent alterations have altered its slope rating, 141; SSS 71,6 ; along its 5728 metre length. The numerous trees and bunkers, along with beautiful rhododendrons bringing splashes of vibrant purple will make you appreciate its picturesque setting. 9 holes.Return to mapclick here

golf-2-fotoflexer_photoDesigned by Yves Bureau in 1973, encompassing his trademark alternate short but technical holes, with long open greens, Fontenay-Sur-Mer is a true links course. Its situation along the coast, facing Vaubans military fort of Hougue and the islands of Marcouf, along with its recent course extension make for a course well worth a game.

The first hole, a par-4, is long and very difficult, and with their narrow greens the 7th and 8th require strength with a certain amount of accuracy. Designed in1990 and placed in the dunes of Saint-Jean de la Riviere, near the pretty seaside resort of Barneville-Carteret, plans are underway to increase the number of holes to 18, making it the first on the peninsula. A par-70 course of some 5200 metres, the planting of hedges, trees and the building of waters hazards have increased the Golf du Centre Manche’s technicality levels. The 5th hole is a tricky par-4, doglegged to the right from the tee and second shot, whereas the par-3 6th exposes the player to wind and water hazards. The maintenance and upkeep of the greens are perfect, the water hazards, and there are a lot of them, well placed. Technically challenging, the par-3 3rd, 6th and 9th holes defended by bunkers and the adrenaline fuelled 16th, the west wind and water hazards increasing its difficulty levels considerably over its 140 metres length. Recently improved greens, with grass produced in Scotland, and technical fine tuning have brought the course bang up to date, without losing any of its original charm. Golf de Granville is a varied course, with bunkers, very long holes, raised and protected greens, leave the fairways ant the terrain becomes difficult due to rough vegetation, which balls seem to love. This wonderful par 69 course, has a very long par-4 6th hole requiring skill, 573 metre par-5 12th and eight link holes which run along the Divette marshland. Deauville-Saint-Gatien golf course itself was designed in 1988 by Olivier Brizon, who placed numerous water hazards and strategic bunkers to hinder the player, and with its narrow greens makes an accurate game a must. Two of the three par-3 holes are dangerous beasts, the exciting 12th hole, with its raised tee, water hazard, deep forest green will challenge you immensely. Bunkers and narrow fairways, bordered by trees and thick roughs are the obstacles placed to hinder, and the mischievous 18th hole is a law unto itself. Hole 10 is an exception par-5, starting on the brow of a hill, and with the wind in the correct direction requires a good drive, followed by two finely placed shots to reach the distant green. From the green the views over the town of Etretat, and its gently curving pebble beach and truly magnificent. Designed especially to be exposed to the onshore winds, and encompassing breathtaking views over chalk cliffs, four holes by architect Foures will challenge even the longest-hitting players with lengths of 5780 metres and a slope rating 131 for a SSJ of 70’9. This old Normandy course demands a lot of power, as holes 4 and 13 are par-4 425 metre and 434 metre, but others require delicacy, there situation an absolute dream. 18 holes. Many of the fairways are bordered by a meandering river, and even though the 9 holes are reasonably flat, don’t be fooled, it is not easy to score.
