Two ferry companies provide services between Normandy and the UK. Brittany Ferries provide ferries from Portsmouth and Poole to Cherbourg and Caen. LD Lines provide a service between Portsmouth and Le Havre.

In addition Irish Ferries provide a service between Ireland and Normandy and Channelislandferry and Manche Isle Express provide services between the Channel Islands and Normandy.

BRITTANY FERRIES

Various ferries from Portsmouth and Poole to Caen and Cherbourg

Between Portsmouth and Caen the high speed ferry takes 3 3/4 hours and the classic ferry that also has cabins takes around 6 hours. From Portsmouth the Ferry port is linked to the M27 which connects to the M3 and M25. The Portsmouth & Southsea train station is short taxi or shuttle bus ride to the Ferry port.

Between Poole and Cherbourg the classic ferry takes about 5 ½ hours and the high speed ferry takes around 2 ¾ hours.

LD LINES – Portsmouth to Le Havre

BY CAR – Portsmouth Ferry Port has excellent road links. The national motorway network brings the M275 right to the port itself. Take exit J12 on M27 and follow M275 to Portsmouth. follow the signs to the Continental Ferry Port and LD Lines terminal. The northbound slip road on to the M275 provides easy access to cars to central Portsmouth.

BY COACH – National Express operates coaches to and from Portsmouth to Heathrow and Gatwick airport, and to the London Victoria coach terminal; Change at London Victoria terminal to travel elsewhere in the UK.

BY RAIL – Frequent services operate between Portsmouth and London Waterloo. Approximate journey time of 85 minutes. The London Victoria services stops at Chichester, Brighton and Gatwick. Services to Cardiff stop at Salisbury and Bristol.
The Portsmouth & Southsea train station is short taxi or shuttle bus ride to the Ferry port.

IRISH FERRIES

Irish Ferries offer two services between Ireland and France, Rosslare to Cherbourg and Rosslare to Roscoff.

Rosslare Ferry Port is ideally located in the south-eastern corner of Ireland. It provides easy access to the midland south and south west of Ireland via the N25 and along the east cost to Dublin via the N11.

At the northern tip of Normandy France is Cherbourg which provides a perfect gateway for travel by road to and from the North and East of France, including Paris, Holland, Belgium and Germany. You can also catch a train from Cherbourg direct to Paris.

The Port of Roscoff is situated on the North Brittany Coast 15 miles/24kms from Morlaix. Roscoff is perfect for travelling to and from Brittany, the West Coast and South Western France.
