Alencon

During the Normandy landings Alencon was the first town to be liberated solely by French troops. The town became famous for its lace making industry established by Louis XIV’s chief minister Colbert, and the Musee des Beaux Arts et la Dentelle and the Musee de la Dentelle commemorates its history.
