Orne carpeted with lush green valleys is the land of the horse. Beautiful renaissance manors and estates house some of the countries finest horse studs and equestrian centres.Lace is the traditional industry of the region, centred on the delightful town of Alencon, whilst the woodland location of the spa town of Baganoles-de-L’Orne is the well-being centre of western France. The Norman province of Orne is a place for outdoor pursuits and relaxation.

A. Domfront – Normandy

domfront-pdFrom the craggy Chateau ruins views across its spectacular flower bedecked gardens and onwards are lovely. The castle keep, walls and ramparts on its rock, were constructed in 1092 AD by King Henry I of England, the grandson of the famous Conqueror, and was a favourite of Henry II and his queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. B. Bagnoles-de-L’Orne – Normandy

C. Carrouges – Normandy

D. Alencon – Normandy

E. Belleme – Normandy

Small though it is, the town of Belleme is actually the capital of the Perche region. Perched on top of a sharp hill, with superb forest views off in the distance, all that remains of this once walled town is the ancient stone Porche.  Read more on Belleme 0r return to mapclick here

F. Mortagne-au-Perche – Normandy

G. Sees – Normandy

H. Agentan – Normandy

I. Vimoutier – Normandy

J. Verneuil-Sur-Avre – Normandy
