Normandy France home of Mont saint Michel, D Day invasion and Bayeux Tapestry

Valognes

The mellow stone houses, still back onto a stream crossed by footbridges, and pre revolutionary mansions such as the Hotel de Granval-Caligny, the home of the 19th century poet Jules Barbey d’Aurevilley survive. The exquisite Hotel de  Beamont with its elegant rooms and façade evokes the daily life of a noble 18th century family. Also set in the 15th century Logis du Grand Quartier is the Musee Regional du Cidre et du Calvados, which tells the story of cider making.Return to previous page
