The” city of the ruins” as St-Lo became known has memorial sites at every turn. The old town walls survive in part, with its solitary ancient tower, and enable a short but enjoyable walk with fine views. The Haras National, itself a fine example of 19^th century architecture, is the home of the St-Lo national stud.
