The” city of the ruins” as St-Lo became known has memorial sites at every turn. The old town walls survive in part, with its solitary ancient tower, and enable a short but enjoyable walk with fine views. Art treasures such as Boudin, Van Loo, Moreau, and many more are housed in the Musee des Beaux Arts. The Haras National, itself a fine example of 19th century architecture, is the home of the St-Lo national stud.
