Vernon

On the banks of the Seine, Vernon is a bustling market town with a medieval heart. King Philippe Auguste constructed the huge circular donjon that was part of the towns defences, whilst its streets are alive with ancient timbers and stone. On the stump of the former medieval bridge a timber house clings to its stone blocks, whilst watching the scene is the miniature Chateau des Tourelles. Return to Eure page
