Normandy France home of Mont saint Michel, D Day invasion and Bayeux Tapestry
Conches-en-Ouche
The Hotel de Ville with its garden and views is adjacent to some stone steps which take you up to the 12th century ruined chateau, a veteran of the Hundred Years War. A town firmly linked with the past Conches-en-Ouche, oddly enough, has gained a reputation for its individual and contemporary art works that are displayed all too good advantage within its streets and public places. The famous cast iron spire of Rouen Cathedral was produced in the town in1876 as metal foundries were once an important industry of the area. Return to Eure page
