The Story goes that the first ancestor of Walt Disney came from d’Isigny and upon entering liberty harbour at New York was the official documenting the immigrant’s asked him his name. Unable to understand his French accent he asked him where he came from to which he replied d’Isigny which was written as Disney.

There is a large striking town hall and a port still used by local fishermen. Heavily bombed during the war the town has been rebuilt but retains its quaint and peaceful character.
