Normandy France home of Mont saint Michel, D Day invasion and Bayeux Tapestry

Honfleur

Reminiscent of a great upturned boat the interior of the church is a great work of art built by local shipwrights, using wooden struts and tiles for the main body and the 18 metre high bell tower. Many artists have favoured the town, Renoir, Pissarro, Cezanne, and of course the impressionist painter Eugene Boudin who was born in Honfleur. The Musee Egene Boudin has fine collection of his works, as well artwork by Dufy, Corot and Monet.Return to Calvados page
